Energy Union: signing of a declaration for greater interconnection in South West Europe.
On 27 July the 2nd Energy Interconnections Summit was held in Lisbon. On this occasion the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain ,Pedro Sánchez, and Miguel Arias Cañete, representing the President of the European Commission, signed a declaration in order to strengthen regional cooperation in the context of the Energy Union and better integrate the Iberian Peninsula in the internal energy market. The objective being in particular to increase the electricity exchange capacity between the Iberian Peninsula and France and complement the gas interconnections between Portugal, Spain and France.
