32% renewable energy
The target set by the European Union for 2030
On Wednesday, 14 June, the negotiators of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council reached an agreement on renewable energy for Europe, the target set being to attain 32% renewable energy by 2030, with an upwards revision clause by 2023. In order to reach this target, the co-legislators decided to implement the principle of "energy efficiency first", and are giving priority, for all decisions pertaining to energy planning, policy and investment, to measures to make energy supply and demand more efficient.
