Very little is said about the energy transition in these areas on the urban fringes, even though it is an essential milestone too for these neighbourhoods and a source of social progress. The challenges and potentials are immense: tackling fuel poverty and strengthening social ties to improve quality of life.
Agamemnon Otero, co-founder of Repowering London, Brixton Energy and Energy Garden, fights fuel poverty and greens public areas by supporting creative and community-owned energy initiatives in London working-class neighbourhoods. His engagement is a perfect illustration of what empowering people means and how this leads to pride in their actions.
